Cheltenham Crematorium and Cemetery

The loss of a loved one is always hard to come to terms with and you want their final resting place to be a place of dignity and serenity. One option in Cheltenham is the Cheltenham Crematorium and Cemetery. Cheltenham has many funeral services offering care and attention to the loss of your loved one.

Cheltenham has had a crematorium since before the outbreak of the Second World War. The crematorium opened in 1938. It is located on Bouncers Lane, in the north-east of Cheltenham with the dramatic Cleeve Hill skyline behind it.

Cheltenham crematorium is open seven days a week, with opening times depending on the time of year. This gives people who want to remember a loved one plenty of flexibility on when they visit and how long they stay. The Crematorium is well maintained adding to the dignity of this place of remembrance. There are a number of well established funeral directors and Monumental Masons in Cheltenham providing excellent support when it’s needed most.

There is also a cemetery at Bishops Cleeve Cheltenham.

From Monday to Saturday:

From 1 April to 30 September 9am to 7.30pm

From 1 October to 31 March 9am to 4.30pm

 

Sundays, Christmas Day and public holidays

The gardens of remembrance at Cheltenham Crematorium are complemented by two decorative ponds which add to the calm air when visiting to remember a loved one.

Over twenty military personnel who have been cremated here are commemorated on plaques within the chapel. Of particular interest in the chapel cloisters is a plaque to Major Richard Willis of the Lancashire Fusiliers who died in Cheltenham in 1966. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery in 1915 at Gallipoli.
