The spa town of Cheltenham is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds. The  charm of Cheltenham town centre and the cosmopolitan streets of Montpellier offer a wide selection of stylish shops along with some of the highstreet chain stores. There is something for everyone in Cheltenham. It is a great location for relaxing holiday, as well as great shopping and a good base to explore the surrounding Cotswold countryside or to visit one of the many Cheltenham Festivals. Cheltenham has offers a good choice of designer boutiques and independant retailers to make an enjoyable and leisurely Cheltenham shopping experience. The regency architecture in Cheltenham brings a charm and elegance to an attractive town. The Promenade in Cheltenham town centre has been voted Britain's favourite High Street. During the Summer and the Festival season Cheltenham's stylish bars, cafes and brasseries become thriving hives of activity with oudoor tables and chairs and cosmopolitan atmosphere, and welcome revenue to the towns retailers, restaurants and Hotels.  

Cheltenham is also the ideal place to live, according to the 2007 survey. Cheltenham was top of the chart as the hottest property location, it is centrally located close to the Cotswolds and with good communication access to london, birmingham, Bristol and the South West. The local community  in Cheltenham actively supports many local activities, clubs and societies. Cheltenham offers its residents the community of a town but with a rural environment to live in, with a large number of parks and gardens to enjoy various outdoor activities which go on throughout the year, and of course the Sandford Lido a popular destination when the sun shines in Cheltenham within close proximity to the town and next to Cheltenham General maternity wing of the hospital.

SHOPPING

 

Cheltenham  provides an excellent selection of shops,both high quality independant boutiques and high street multiples, and is the main shopping capital of the Cotswolds. Shopping is the largest single attraction for day- visitors who spend over  £200 million every year in Cheltenham, many people enjoy the pleasure of shopping in an attractive town such as Cheltenham especially during festival visits such as the Cheltenham Gold Cup, whilst other prefer shopping online shopping from the comfort of their own home.

 

CHELTENHAM TOWN CENTRE

 

Cheltenham town centre has several main shopping areas and shopping centres,  The Promenade is the main shopping area and is one of the UK's most attractive boulevards, lined with shops such as Jigsaw, Karen Millen, white stuff, Gap, Jack Wills, and Cavendish House on one side and flower boarders and the municipal buildings and fountain on the opposite side.  Regent Street is another main shopping arcade with the Regent Arcade shopping centre, with the Everyman Theatre is situated just behind the Regent Arcade. Cheltenham High Street is renowned for shopping with style. Along with the usual big high street names, it is home to the Beechwood Shopping Centre on the High Street, which has alarge ajoining multi storey car park and  The Brewery  a recently developed retail and leisure area with a cinema and good choice of restaurants and several shops such as Habitat, located at the Lower High Street. Cheltenham. A Cheltenham Guide and Map can easily be obtained from the tourist Information Centre in the Municipal buildings at the top of the promenade just after the prominant water fountain. Cheltenham Town Hall can be found diagonally opposite the fountain and hosts many of the annual Cheltenham Festivals and shows throughout the year,

The Brewery is one of the latest additions to Cheltenham's leisure and shopping centres. The 200,000 square feet retail and leisure centre opened in May 2006 on the site of a former brewery which was was started by a banker, who started his brewhouse  in the High Street.

It was not until 1888 that the brewing firm was registered as a company, taking the name Cheltenham Original Brewery. In 1897 the site wittnessed a disastrous fire and the massive buildings which were built afterwards are still part of the newly built complex.

Visitors to the Brewery can enjoy eating out in one a variety of restaurants, including Portuguese, Mexican, Italian and Chinese restaurants as well as cafe bars or visiting the 11  screen multiplex cinema Cineworld, or  exercising in the fitness first  fitness centre, the Brewery regularly hold family events during the day throughout the year, along with Christmas festivities during the Christmas period.

CAR PARKING

With 356 spaces, the NCP multi-storey car park directly opposite the main entrance to The Brewery.  In addition, there are in excess of 1000 car parking spaces within a few minutes walk of The Brewery. There are many pay and display car parks centrally located from which the Brewery and the Town centre are within easy access.

CHELTENHAM MARKETS

Cheltenham has a regular market in the town centre every Thursday. The Cheltenham Farmer's Market, held on the second and last Friday of each month on Cheltenham’s  Promenade, is a popular attraction with local produce, farmers and suppliers. Cheltenham Racecourse is host to a large Antiques and Collectors Fairs on the last Sunday of every month, and hosts a regular car boot sale every Sunday.

CHELTENHAM  Retail Parks

 There are two large out of town shopping parks Kingsditch Retail Park and Gallagher Retail Park on the outskirts of Cheltenham near the M5.

 

 

CHELTENHAM THURSDAY MARKET

Market day is on Thursday each week at the west end of the High Street. Fresh local produce as well as clothes, music and plants and much more.

CHELTENHAM FARMERS' MARKET

Cheltenham Farmers' Market takes place on the Promenade every 2nd and last Friday of each month 9am to 3pm.  Located right in the centre of Cheltenham it is a great opportunity to sample and buy locally grown produce from Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds.

CHELTENHAM ANTIQUE MARKETS and CAR BOOT SALES

Cheltenham Racecourse hosts a large Antiques and Collectors Fair on the last Sunday of every month. Visitors can find more than 100 antiques and collectables stalls indoor and outdoor.  Open from  8am - 4pm, admission charge £2.

Cheltenham Racecourse car boot sales. Every Sunday from 6:30 to set up and 9am for buyers  with over 200 pitches.

From May to August, another car boot sale is held in Southam, near the racecourse on Bishop's Cleeve road. Held on Saturdays and Sundays 9am-1pm.

GETTING TO CHELTENHAM

Cheltenham is easily accessable by rail, road and plane. Cheltenham is located off junctions 10 and 11 of the M5 motorway and on the A40 from London and Oxford to Gloucester. Junction 10 has restricted access and only southbound traffic can exit the motorway here. From junction 11, follow the signs for Cheltenham Town Centre along the A40.

There happen to be two ways to start. First, is wtohiut a penny to you name start looking through yard sales and flea markets. In you travels a suggest a vintage approach, personally selecting unique items. Most of the time you can find very interesting tapestries, rugs, lamps, furniture, ect..,you know stuff to fill up space. Worn furniture is extremely comfortable, and with the right ten dollar blanket from walmart it can look any way you want it to. As far as pictures and knickknacks look f
