Situated in the heart of the world famous Cotswolds, Cheltenham is a magnet for tourists from all over the world. There is a wealth of events and permanent attractions throughout the year.  Much of the centre is located within a conservation area of national importance while the Montpellier area has pubs and bars to appeal to all tastes. The Gold Cup at Cheltenham racecourse attracts over 200,000 visitors who wager many millions of pounds across the course of the 26 races.

It is also a vibrant student town with over 2000 students based at the University of Gloucestershire campuses in the town.
