Cheltenham Town centre has everything to offer from great restaurants, Cheltenham town centre shopping to Cheltenham town Centre hotels. Although much of the shopping area is dominated by large chain stores many individual and boutique shops can be found in nearby Montpellier. With relaxed ‘cafe’ style culture and an array of specialist shops, from cookware to antiques and Cheltenham town estate agents and letting Property, wine bars and restaurants, Montpellier caters for everything.

One of Cheltenham Town’s major events is Cheltenham Race week, when the 4 day Cheltenham Gold Cup Festival is held at Cheltenham Racecourse in Prestbury  just 1.5 miles from Cheltenham Town centre, bringing over 200,000 visitors to Cheltenham town centre. There are several excellent entertainment venues including the fantastic Everyman Theatre Cheltenham which host big name acts and shows form both theatre and music; and also the Bacon Theatre Cheltenham and the Tuckwell amphitheatre. Cheltenham town centre directions are easy to follow from either a GPS or internet based search facility. Buses in Cheltenham are frequent and cover all the major routes

Cheltenham Town Hall is a central venue with a capacity for 1000 people in the main hall. Located in the town centre it can be hired for weddings, ceremonies and exhibitions. It is conveniently located near to a selection of Cheltenham town hotels and Cheltenham Town pubs and parks. Imperial gardens are situated behind Cheltenham town hall and forms part of the outside venues for all the Cheltenham festivals.

Cheltenham Town Hall is well known as a music venue, including the Cheltenham Folk Festival which next year will be in its Sixteenth year, as well hosting evenings by entertainers such as Dom Joly and comedian Tim Vine. The venue also proves popular for classical music events. Parking at Cheltenham Town Hall is easy with plenty of parking within a short walk.

Cheltenham Town Football club

Cheltenham Town FC, a long established football club, with the Cheltenham town nickname ‘The Robins’ play at Whaddon Road, not far from the town centre of Cheltenham. Cheltenham Town has a long history dating back to 1887 when it is believed Albert Close White introduced the game of association football to Cheltenham.  

Over their history the Cheltenham town football team have played at three grounds, the two previous sites being relatively close to the current Waddon Road football ground. The Whaddon Road ground has undergone numerous upgrades in the last couple of decades from the upgrade of the Prestbury Road end which now seat nearly 2000 fans to the upgrade of the Hazelwoods Stand to seat over 1000 fans. The ground serves the fans well when the Cheltenham Town goals start to come thick and fast. Cheltenham Town tickets are reasonably priced and can be purchased at the ticket office.

There is also a Cheltenham Town Ladies FC team who compete in the South West Women’s Football League. There is also a Youth Development programme. The Cheltenham Town Club shop which has an online facility is a popular facility with local and not so local fans.

Probably the best known Cheltenham town museum is the Holst museum. The museum is at 4 Clarence Road. This is the house where Gustav Holst was born and where he composed the ‘Planets’, his best known piece of work. It is important to remember that this was not by far his only piece of work.  The interior of the house is still as it would have been in the Victorian/Edwardian time and gives a fascinating insight into life then and also Holst. It is also possible to become a member of the Holst Birthplace Trust.

Cheltenham town rugby club are known as the Cheltenham Tigers. The Prince of Wales stadium where they are based is on Tommy Taylors Lane in Cheltenham. The Club House includes a function room with space for 1000 guests. There is also a popular club shop and there is also a Cheltenham Tigers RFC Mini and juniors.

Cheltenham is renowned for the Cheltenham town Festivals. The Cheltenham Jazz festival takes place at the end of April. The festival attracts major stars for 2011 these include celebrities such as Jamie Cullum – Guest Director and Sir Michael Parkinson with the BBC concert orchestra. The Cheltenham jazz festival has grown in stature since its launch in 1996 and now attracts visitors and performers from around the world.

The jazz festival is followed by the Cheltenham Science Festival which takes place at the beginning of June. The Cheltenham town science festival first started in 2002. The festival attracts guests such as Lord Robert Winston and Professor Brian Cox such is the importance of the event. In 2010 the Science festival was awarded Gold at the first Cotswold Tourism Awards.

The Cheltenham town music festival which was the first of the current festivals started in 1945. As James Rhodes classical pianist proved when he used a pc tablet instead of traditional paper sheet music both the audience and the performers are forward looking.  The music festival starts at the end of June and runs into July and is diverse in its musical offering, so there’s something for all tastes. Another advantage of the music festival in Cheltenham is the choice of venues, Cheltenham Town Hall, Pittville Pump Room Cheltenham, and the Parabola Arts Centre Cheltenham which is part of Cheltenham Ladies' College is a fantastic new venue.   

Following on from the Cheltenham music festival is the Cheltenham Literature festival rounding off the year. The festival caters for all tastes and all ages, from children upwards. This is possibly the festival which attracts the most discussion and debate with visitors and guests from across the globe. Overall the combination of the festival bring millions of pounds to the local Cheltenham economy, and also work, not just jobs at the Cheltenham festival but to all the hotels in Cheltenham town also giving a boost to all the bed and breakfast's in Cheltenham. B&Bs in Cheltenham rely heavily on events such as this and the Gold Cup in Cheltenham and other races in Cheltenham to keep their businesses going. Cheltenham race week is vital to many parts of the local economy.

Everyday services such as dentists in Cheltenham , doctors,  schools and Colleges are well catered for, as are facilities such as libraries in Cheltenham. There a wide range of activities for Cheltenham teenagers and Cheltenham youth from cinemas in Cheltenham to sports facilities in Cheltenham. Also there are wide range of educational facilities including the world renowned Cheltenham Ladies College and also the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham. Unemployment in Cheltenham is lower than the national average so people looking for jobs in Cheltenham may stand a better chance of finding work although the number of jobs in Cheltenham is still poor.

The Oxegen Festival has gone from etsrngth to etsrngth with Oxegen Tickets selling out months ago, it is expected that lots of English Fans will book last minute flights to dublin
