Gloucestershire Museums and Arts

Events happening at Museum in the Park Stroud and the Gloucester Museums.

As part of the Museums at Night 2010, a national scheme funded by the Museums Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and organised by Culture24, both Gloucester and Stroud museums are doing something a little special this weekend.

 On the 14th May 2010 at Museum in the Park, the museum will be staying open to the public for free from 6.00pm-10.30pm. There will be a wine bar and music and everyone must wear something red.

Also on the 14th May, Gloucester Folk Museum will be opening from 6pm – 8pm. You are invited to join a candle lit tour hosted by two of Gloucester’s historical celebrities with tours starting at 6pm and 7pm pre booking is essential. To book a place please telephone 01452 396868. 

 On Saturday 15th May the City Museum will be extending their opening hour’s from10am – 8pm. In conjunction with their current exhibition there will be Tooth & Claw themed craft activities for all the family throughout the day. Part of the Natural History collection not usually on display will be available to see until 5.30pm. At 11.30am there will be a talk on the “False Vampire Bats” from Angela Smith and a talk at 6.00pm by Jemima Parry-Jones from the International Centre for Birds of Prey. After the talk there will be an opportunity to ask questions about birds of prey and the centres work as well as meeting one of the centres current residents.

 The museum welcomes all visitors to come and enjoy this event and see the museum in a different light.
